Pancake Tuesday took place this year on the 25th of February. We celebrate Pancake Tuesday every year just before the season of lent begins. We are so lucky every year as the Moyles family provide every child in the school with a delicious pancake and choices of toppings. The 6th Class also came around to every class to help distribute the pancakes and toppings. Thank you so much! We had such a lovely day and an extra big lunch! Yum!

We have become teeth experts in First Class.
We have learned the names of our teeth: incisors, canines, premolars and molars. We made a KWL chart; writing down what we know about teeth, what we want to know and what we learned about teeth after our research and discussions. We also discussed how we should brush our teeth. We know how important our teeth are and why we should look after them. We learned: You should brush your teeth at least twice a day Try not to eat too much sugary food/snacks/drinks Drinking water and milk are both good for your teeth Gently and thoroughly brush each side of every tooth and the gums. It should take about 3 minutes to do them all. We also made our own teeth structures using plasticine! They look so real! Come and have a look. We also had a visit from the school Dental Team on the 5th of February and they were very impressed with all our knowledge. They talked to us, allowed us to ask any questions and gave every child a little dental pack to bring home. We really enjoyed their visit. In Religion and SESE this week we learned all about Saint Brigid. We celebrate Saint Brigid every year on the 1st of February. We now know how important she was in spreading the word of God. She really wanted to build a Church for people to come and pray and learn about God. We were fascinated to read how Saint Brigid put her cloak down on the ground and how it spread for acres and acres. The King at the time knew she was blessed by God and gave her all the land she needed.
We decided in Art using fabric and fibre to make our own Saint Brigid's cloak and to see how far it might spread! Come and take a look in the front hall when you visit the school. |
