We had such a fantastic World Book Day this year. We just loved dressing up as some of our favourite characters. Have a look through our slideshow and see can you guess what characters we are from some of our best loved books?
In First Class we really wanted to celebrate what a special week this is. We put a lot of focus on reading and took extra Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) time in class everyday to read some of our favourite books. We so enjoyed being able to just get lost in a book. We did lots of extra reading and literacy activities throughout the week. On World Book Day we also set up a book club with the Junior Infants. We listened to each other read and asked questions to get our minds thinking about what we were reading too. We also did a book swapping event. One of our favourite things to do was our drama based on famous books. We all had to act out scenes from some of the best known fairytales and guess what story it was. We have some amazing actors and actresses in our class. Each child could also present their book report to the class. It was very interesting to learn what books we thought were good and why.  We love to read in First Class!
