Many thanks to all the boys and girls and staff who dressed up as their favourite book character last Friday to celebrate World Book Day. All the boys and girls had great fun with their different book activities throughout the week.
Congratulations to the fifteen pupils in 6th class who received the Sacrament of Confirmation in Bohermeen church on Friday @ 3pm. This was a very special occasion for the pupils and their families on their Christian Faith journey. It was particularly memorable this year with the new Bishop of Meath Thomas Deenihan anointing the pupils, in his first official engagement in the parish. Special thanks to the Forty-nine pupils in 3rd, 4th and 5th class who comprised the Confirmation Choir on Friday afternoon and did a wonderful job of singing the many hymns and Confirmation songs. Thanks also to Miss O’Brien, the choir leader and to Miss Sherlock, Majella Murray and Shane Monaghan for their assistance in providing the instrumental music and guiding the choir. Congratulations to Kate Kearney at Killossery Equestrian Inter-Schools Showjumping Competition2/14/2019
Well done to the 50 pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th classes in Boyerstown N.S. who entertained a full to capacity Solstice Theatre in Navan on December 8th. The presentation, confidence and beautiful singing voices of all the pupils were most apparent in the 90 minute Merry Christmas Show. The pupils were a great credit to their mentors Miss O’Brien, Miss Sherlock, Majella Murray and Miriam Donnelly. Particular mention must go to Miss Sherlock who took on the conductor’s baton for three songs and accompanied the choir on piano for the fourth song. Well done also to Lismullen N.S., who also sang beautifully arranged songs on Friday night and teamed up with Boyerstown for an exciting opener song and a roof-raising finale of two songs. Thank you to all parents/guardians, siblings and grandparents who supported the pupils for this great musical entertainment experience on Friday in the Solstice Theatre.
Congratulations to the Boyerstown Girls Gaelic Football Team who won the Meath Schools Division 4 Title on Saturday in Pairc Tailteann. It was a close contest with rivals Oristown N.S. but the girls showed great resolve and determination and plenty of skill and fitness to get the better of their opponents on a scoreline of 4-2 to 2-4. The captains accepted the cup on behalf of the 28 girls from third to sixth class who all contributed so much in training and games throughout the campaign that started in early September. We would like to thank all the pupils, parents, grandparents and friends in the Boyerstown Community who turned out in great numbers to support the team on Saturday morning. We thank Siobhan and Niall O’Regan and David Callaghan from Crannóg Roofing for generously sponsoring a set of half-zip tops for the girls and mentors for the final.
We thank the Parents Council and Rosita and John Moyles for organising the delicious food for the girls and their families after the final in the Boyerstown Community Centre. We thank Margaret Hennessey, Miss Sherlock and Mr ÓBric for their work with the team on Saturday and over the past ten weeks. Last but not least, thank you to the 28 girls who put heart and soul into being the fastest, fittest, strongest and most skillful team they could be over the past two and a half months. You are a great credit to your families, your clubs and your school. Well done! Congratulations to the U-11 girls’ cross-country running team who claimed the Meath Primary Schools title in Bellewstown on November 14th 2018. The team included Orlaith Reilly, Clodagh Fitzsimons, Rebecca Reilly, Bella Garvey, Sarah McHugh, Mia Haber, Niamh Rattigan and Alisha Mills. Special mention must go to Clodagh Fitzsimons who claimed an individual placing of 5th in her race and to Orlaith Reilly who claimed an outstanding first place in the U-11 girls’ race for small and medium sized schools in Meath.
